Domestic Violence Victim Assistance Center

The crisis shelter is open 24/7 for victims of domestic violence and their children fleeing abusive situations. Services include, but are not limited to: 24/7 access to staff, case management services, clothing/food/hygiene products, crisis intervention, and therapeutic counseling. Clients also can receive services from other YCC and DVVAC programs while staying in the shelter.
Works primarily with victims of domestic violence while going through the criminal justice system. Provides court assistance, on-scene response, protective order assistance, crisis intervention, 24-hour mobile unit, and assistance with filing Crime Victims Reparations applications.
This program assists survivors after leaving the shelter in the transition to a new, violence-free life. Services include, but are not limited to: emotional support, home visits, case management, resources/referrals, and assistance with household items and transportation.
A protective order is a civil court order designed to keep your abuser from hurting you anymore. There are two types of protective orders. The first is called an ex parte protective order, which is designed to give you immediate protection. The second type is referred to simply as a protective order. Once a judge reviews your petition, a sheriff will serve the forms to the respondent, and the order can be enforced by the police. There will then be a hearing in front of a judge. You MUST appear at the hearing if you want the order of protection to continue. YCC can assist you with filling out a protective order; there is NO fee for filing or service of a protective order in Utah.
